Buenos Aires, December 18 (NA) — Martín Savi recounted his musical journey since childhood and remembered two key moments in his career: singing for the Pope at the Vatican and sharing a song with Diego Maradona when he was only 12 years old.
In an exclusive interview with the Argentine News Agency, the 21-year-old young artist gave an interview in which he reviewed his training in classical music, his current artistic life, and his upcoming professional challenges.
During the conversation, Savi described the experience of traveling to Rome to sing for Pope Francis at the Vatican as «a dream come true». «I was just a kid», he emphasized.
The artist explained that he started singing at the age of six and that his training was always linked to classical music: «I entered the Teatro Colón when I was very little, and I was moved by listening to that music».
Although his foundation is opera, he assured that today he can interpret different genres: «I sing everything, from opera to cumbia, whatever they ask me for».
Among his references, the young singer did not hesitate to mention Luciano Pavarotti, whom he defined as his maximum inspiration, and also named artists like Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson as the musicians who most marked him.
Regarding his academic life, the young man said that he had to change schools and attend double shifts to be able to combine his studies with his artistic training, and after finishing high school, he began a degree in piano and is currently preparing to enter the Higher Institute of Art of the Teatro Colón.
Finally, the singer announced his upcoming professional commitments and confirmed that he will perform on March 20 and 21 at the Teatro Avenida, where he will offer a medley of songs: «I prefer to risk it and do what I like and am passionate about», he stated when defining his choice for an artistic life.
«It was a very nice and exciting experience for a young man», he expressed, when remembering one of the most significant milestones of his early career.
The artist also evoked an unforgettable anecdote with Diego Maradona; according to his story, the encounter occurred in a locker room, shortly after the former footballer had undergone surgery: «He told me: ‘Are you the kid who is going to sing? Let me know later and we’ll sing together’,» he recalled.
A few minutes later, Savi performed «Solo le pido a Dios» with Maradona, pushing through the journalists to get to the stage.
